Amazonite, smoky quartz
North America
Attractive cabinet plate of Smoky Quartz atop Amazonite crystals.Attractive cabinet plate of Smoky Quartz atop Amazonite crystals! This is an older specimen from Teller County and it exhibits over half a dozen terminated. Smoky points sitting atop fine crystals of turquoise-colored Amazonite. Both of these minerals sit atop a matrix of Albite with Manebach twinning. This specimen was found complete and in one piece and remains so to this day. It dates back to Tucson 1985 where collector Marvin Rausch purchased it and was also once in Richard Kosnar collection whitch probably means it dates even earlier than that. Most likely from the mid 1970´s. It is very important to note that this specimen is unrepaired, whitch is a major rarity when it comes to cabinet sized Smoky-Amazonites.
